MUTUAL AID

A Basic Guide

What is Mutual Aid?

A form of political participation in which people take responsibility for caring for one another and changing political conditions - beyond symbolic acts or putting pressure on their representatives in government - by building new social relations that are more sustainable and immediate.

People volunteer their time and skills to provide needed services in their community. Directly changing issues surrounding food/housing insecurity, COVID-19 impacts, etc., rather than waiting for corporations and politicians to do the right thing.

The Government does not care! We the people must help each other!

Why is Mutual Aid Needed in Silicon Valley?

Silicon Valley Pain Index Chart.

In one of the wealthiest regions in the world, there exists an underbelly of extreme poverty and inequality of opportunity that continues to grow against the backdrop of government assistance programs and flourishing tech companies.

None of us should be struggling. This wealth wasn't created by a handful of "tech geniuses" in boardrooms, it was earned by and can be shared by all!
